Materials

-          Outline with sufficient room for adjectives, similes and metaphor.

-          Leave room for drawing for inspiration

Teaching/learning strategies

-          Model an ending with the students

Get Stanley to write an outline of his writing first so he has an idea of the beginning middle end.  Have Stanley include descriptive words in the outline to describe the setting, main character, and events in the story.  Rather than starting with the beginning of the story Stanley can focus on the ending first.  He can than work his way backwards to the middle and the beginning.  The purpose is to encourage the use of adjectives, similes and metaphors throughout the story.   Also by using an outline Stanley will have a better understanding of how his story will unfold.
