Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin

Step 1: Introduce the Book (what do think the book is about)
- Awarded: Caldecott Honor Book (Given for good Illustrations-Picture Books)
- Has an image of an man (emotions)
Step 2: Read the book-students read simultaneously
- Act out how you would be holding the instruments being played (model actions for student first, then do it with them)
- Designate student to flip the page, distribute instruments
Step 3: Comprehension Check
- After the story, what happened in the story? What happened in the beginning the middle and the end?
- Name the instruments in order
- Was there rhyming questions?
- Is there another way of saying numbers? If so please example from the book.
Step 4: Retell the Story
- Now put the instruments/discussion of instruments in order
- Explain the instrument and what order it fell in the book
Step 5: Teacher remodelling the story
- Discuss knowledge gained from book-and discussed what the students enjoyed about the book
Step 6: Next day reading-Delegates tasks to students
- ESL students emphasize sequence of events
